Squishy Astero

Species: Animaverian Starfish Age: 21 Occupation: Nail-in-the-Strand cashier (formerly) Description: A cowardly Orange Animaverian Starfish who formerly served as cashier at the Nail-in-the-Strand restaurant. When Dende heard news about an imposter posing as a health inspector, he was forced to aid his boss into killing him for the status of his employment. He was horrified of want his boss had done and could not call the police on him, until his co-workers stepped in to help him bring their boss into the police. After his co-worker, Eve was killed, Squishy quickly alerted Soko and Kuchimba about his former boss’ killing spree and willing to bring him down. As they explored Dende’s tent, they discovered a bunch of boxes containing severed heads and a map that says “You are next Squishy” written in blood. Dende spots them, chases the trio all the way to Squishy’s house, he tells Soko and Kuchimba to hold off Dende, while he gets something from the basement, revealing it to be a bomb tied to his torso. As they realized that he plans to kill himself to save Nexus City, they got blown away from his house. Dende comments what he is going to do with that bomb, Squishy replied something that he should have done a long time ago, the bomb detonates, and killing them both in the process, thus ending his former boss’ bloodlust. Squishy’s sacrifice left Soko and Kuchimba disappointed that his loss saved everyone in Nexus City. In the finale of Volume III, his soul reappears among the other innocent deceased freed spirits to say their goodbyes to Soko, his friends, and allies for saving them before he and the other spirits depart back into the afterlife.
